Jonathan Thatcher currently serves as Director of Research with APICS and the APICS Supply Chain Council headquartered in Chicago, Illinois USA. Jonathan began working at APICS in December 2008 after previously serving as Director of Business Integration at CompTIA a large not for profit trade association in the Information Technology industry. He received his MBA from the University of Utah in 1998 and additionally studied at the London School of Economics completing a General Course there in 1991.

Jonathan has completed a wide range of operations management research projects involving APICS members, customers, and partners, as well as academic partners. Research areas include member needs, professional career development, and best practices including inventory management, forecasting, and use of the APICS Operations Management Body of Knowledge (OMBOK) In addition, Jonathan and his team engage in ongoing research with a variety of including commercial and academic research organizations. Current research includes primary and secondary research study in the areas of supply chain leadership, sustainability, partner relationship management and professional job task analysis. Jonathan also writes the Ask APICS feature in APICS Magazine and has spoken at APICS conferences and webinars events. He is an APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) and a Certified Association Executive (CAE).
